Following the death of a beloved pet, four middle school students wrestle with loss, new friendships, and the challenges of fitting in in a post-Covid world.
According to playwright Cheri Magid, “When I started writing ‘Playing Dog’, my kids’ play about two tween sisters reeling from the death of their dog, I knew I was writing a comedy about grief. What I didn’t know was I was also writing about ultimate frisbee. And what I absolutely didn’t know was I was also writing about death metal. But here we are.”
This delightful play for families, recommended for ages 8 and up, mixes realism with fantasy and includes several original death metal songs, performed to comic effect.
