Susana Meyer Creative Arts Award, Submissions Due

A grant of $1,500 will go toward a work created by an individual in any of the following arts: Visual or Decorative, Music, Literary, Film, Photography, Video, Dance, or Performance.  Preference will be given to a project that involves community either as participants or audience. 

In addition, two project-based grants of $600 will be given to artistic projects that improve or enhance local natural resources and/or the quality of community life.

 1) Individual Award will be given to an artist who has been working in their field for at least five years, and has demonstrated accomplishments

2)  Project Based Awards will be based on demonstrated engagement with the community in environmental or quality of life activities.

Criteria:

  • Applicants should be 18 or over and be a full or part-time resident of Saugerties

  • Completion of application form

  • High standard of work as reflected by attached samples 

  • Ability to complete project 

  • Degree to which project fulfills the mission of the award

  • Not a previous Susana Meyer Creative Arts Awardee

  2. Description of project 

  3. Sample of Existing Work

  4. Names of two references

Susana Meyer (1948-2018) had a distinguished career as an artistic administrator, programmer, manager, casting director, and producer in the performing arts, particularly opera, in New York City and at Bard College. In Saugerties, Susana was a member of the steering group for the new Arm-of-the-Sea Tidewater Center. For the first two years of ShoutOut Saugerties, she brought her management acumen, wholehearted enthusiasm and her photography skills to the arts organization.
